Our trip to Riverside Allotments

On Monday we took the bus to Riverside Allotments in Cardiff as part of our topic for the term. We were met by Isla who showed us around. We took part in a nature hunt to find things like the compostable toilet and bug hotel. We were then shown the edible part of the allotment where we were able to try almost everything. The Sorrel was very sweet and the peas were delicious! Afterwards we made our own pots from newspaper and went pond dipping. We had a great time!
After lunch we walked to Bute Park where we were met by a group of Bute Park educational staff. We looked at mini beasts in the park. We split into groups and used paintbrushes, magnifying glasses, nets and bug containers to catch and study the mini beasts. Take a look at our photos.

We have been cooking!

Yesterday Richard Shaw from Cooking Together taught us very important knife skills, how we should hold knives, the correct way to hold food for cutting and the importance of respecting a knife. We made Banana Crumble Bites and Tortilla Toasties. We had a lot of fun and the food tasted fabulous!
